House-75th (Grundy County
and portions of LaSalle, Will, Livingston, Iroquois and Kankakee counties) - This seat was a Tier One target for the House GOP in 2004 where Morris police chief Doug Hayse
narrowly lost a bid to unseat Careen Gordon (D-Coal City). Gordon, 33, who was appointed to fill the vacancy left by former
Rep. Mary K. O’Brien who left for a seat on the Illinois Appellate Court.
Hayse has reportedly ruled
out running again which has cleared the way for conservative activist David McAloon, executive director of VirtuePAC, a pro-family
political action committee, to throw his hat into the ring. McAloon will formally announce his candidacy on Saturday in Morris.
