BOURBONNAIS -- David McAloon officially announced his candidacy for 75th District state representative.
McAloon believes that a state representative should be a civil servant and not a politician.
Democrat Careen Gordon is the current representative of the 75th District.
"For too long politicians have represented special interest groups and insider interests," said McAloon, "They have not served the public nor the people of the district they were elected to represent.
"There is a constant push to raise taxes and fees while at the same time taking away more of the freedoms from Illinois families," he said.
He believes there is a better way.
McAloon calls himself a Ronald Reagan conservative and like his fellow Illinoisan, he believes in limited government, defending personal freedoms, personal responsibility and the rule of law in Illinois and the United States of America.
The district includes all or part of Grundy, Will, Kankakee, LaSalle, Iroquois and Livingston counties.
